Don't heat up your car in the garage. 75% of accidental CO poisonings involve home furnaces. Power outages can lead to an epidemic of CO poisoning due to generators, portable propane or kerosene heaters. Install a CO detector in a hallway near a bedroom and basement. Have your furnace inspected and tuned up once a year.
